Bear, you are 11 months old! It's hard to believe next month you will be One!

I still don't have exact measurements for you, but we will have them next month at your checkup! You weigh somewhere are 19.4 lbs, and I have no idea how tall you are because you won't stay still to let me measure!

Your current habits are:

You are still sleeping wonderfully. I am so blessed that we have never really had any problems with your sleep. You are still taking 2 naps per day. We have moved your bedtime to 8:30pm and now you wake up around 7:30 or 8, and it is working wonderfully!

You are still breastfed and nurse 5 times per day. I think we will be dropping a session soon, because you are starting to eat a lot more real food! You are eating all table food now, and you eat a puree as your "dessert" after dinner.

You are wearing all 9-12 month clothes, with a few 18 month tops thrown in. Your jeans are a size 6-12 months, and most other pants you still wear a 9 month size. You are wearing a size 3 diaper.

This past month you:

are walking. Everywhere. Keeping up with you is definitely a chore! But you are loving your independence and I am loving that you can run around and do whatever you feel!
have 3 1/2 teeth. I mean, you really have 3 teeth fully in, and one more is so close to popping through! Your top teeth are no fun and we have had a rough time with teething recently.
are signing!! We have been working on sign language with you for a couple of months, and this past month you have starting signing milk and more. You can kind of sign all done - we are still working on that one!
have learned a ton of words ... You don't say anything yet, but you know what these mean: Shake shake - for something in your hand. Arms up - for taking your shirt off. Pants on - when putting on your pants. Over your head - to put your shirt on. Turn off the light. And up - when you want to be picked up.
give hugs and kisses! Adorable.
learned how to dance. You will bounce up and down to music.

We are going on your first roadtrip this month to Altus for Thanksgiving and we are anxious to see how you do! I know everyone is excited to see/meet you and we are excited to see everyone this year since we didn't make it last year due to me being on bedrest.

I still can't believe you will be one year next month, the time is just flying by!

10 months

Edie bear, you are 10 months old! The time is going by so fast, and you are just growing right before our eyes!

No exact measurements this month, so these are just approximate! You weigh around 18.5 lbs and are about 28 inches long.
Your current habits are:

You are back to sleeping much better because we dropped down to 2 naps per day! You are now taking 2 hour naps in the morning and afternoon. We also are moving your bedtime up due to the time change this month.

You are still breastfed and nurse 5 times per day. We are still having fun trying new things, and you are mostly eating table foods now. You eat 2-3 meals per day, just depending on how our mornings go.

You are wearing a mix of 6-9 month and 9-12 month clothes, depending on the weather. It is starting to get cooler, so we are mixing in your winter clothes! You are wearing a size 3 diaper.

This past month you:

said Da Da! It was absolutely adorable and I immediately took a video and sent it to Daddy :)
are a standing pro!
are taking a few steps on your own. I know you will be walking on your own very soon!
know how to turn the light off! When we leave a room, you love to turn the light switch off.
have become very attached to your Teddy. It is a very funny story, and I will have to make a post just for him. But you must have him to sleep and he goes everywhere with us!
dropped down to just 2 naps. It makes for a very interesting schedule, but I am glad you are sleeping for longer periods again!
are now riding in a big girl carseat! We found a great deal and officially switched you over this month.
have just your 2 little bottom teeth. You have such a sweet little smile.
have been away from Mommy quite a lot this month. She has had a craft show every weekend and you stay with either Daddy or the grandparents. I am so glad you finally took to a bottle, although Mommy misses you while she's gone!

This month has been so crazy, not only with how much you are learning and growing, but just with everything going on! I know these next two months are going to be even crazier and I am looking forward to the New Year and maybe a little quieter life!

Wow Edith, you are 9 months old ... in just 3 short months, you will be O.N.E. I'm not sure I'm ready for that! But here we are, flying head first into the holiday months, and it will be here before I know it!

You finally had your 9 month checkup on Friday and we have REAL measurements!!

You weigh 17.5 lbs - 27th percentile
You are 27.7 in - 57th percentile
Your head measures 17.5 in - 64th percentile

Your check up went really well. The doctor says you are developing wonderfully and doing all the things you should! She was really impressed with your muscle control and that you are already standing on your own. No shots this time, and I am very grateful! Now we just wait until your 12 month check up.

Your current habits are:

You are still sleeping pretty well ... we are starting to have issues with short naps (only 45 minutes - 1 hour, not quite sure what is up with that!) and you are definitely working on your top teeth, so you have been quite fussy this past week. You are still going to bed at 9:30 and waking up between 8 and 8:30. You are still taking 3 naps per day, and they generally add up to around 3 hours, maybe 4 if I'm lucky.

You are still breastfed, still enjoying your dinner, and now we have added in a breakfast! You always want to eat when I'm eating, so you do! You still nurse 5 times per day and generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. We are having such a fun time trying new things! You seem to be loving just about everything. You are back on board with green beans, as long as they are whole. The only 2 things you aren't crazy about right now are carrots and peas, but you eat them anyway. You LOVE bread and cereal.

You are wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes, and a few 3-6 month things. We are having major issues trying to find you pants! You are such a skinny little thing. You can still wear your 3-6 month pants, and your 0-3 month jeans fit your waist, but are starting to become high waters :) We finally found you some good jeans at Old Navy, after a tiring day of shopping! You are still wearing size 2 diapers, although I'm sure we will be in size 3 next month.

This past month you:

have continued crawling like. a. champ. You are getting fast and it is wearing me out trying to keep up with you. But we are so happy you decided to crawl first, instead of being like me and just take off walking!
have stood on your own!! You are a pro at standing up.
are "surfing." You can walk anywhere as long as you are holding on to something. You also started walking with your little Walk and Ride toy. You will be running around here in no time. I don't think I'm ready for that!
are learning to understand words! You will "shake shake" a toy and do "arms up" to get undressed.
are waving. It's pretty adorable.
love. to. eat. If I'm eating, you have to eat too.
are finally taking a bottle!! It only took us several months, and several bottles later ... but we finally found one you will take! Which is good, because I am going to start going to craft fairs soon, and you will need to be able to eat.

Honestly, it's been kind of a quiet month. But I am definitely okay with that, because I know life is going to start getting pretty crazy soon.

Your current habits are:

You are still a fabulous sleeper, sometimes I wonder how we got so lucky. We have a great routine down and you go to bed at 9:30 and wake up between 8 and 8:30. You are still taking 3 naps per day, and they generally add up to around 3-4 hours.

You are still breastfed, and are enjoying your solid meal at dinner time. You still nurse 5 times per day and generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. We are having such a fun time trying new things! You still love sweet potatoes, avocado, and squash.

You are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes, although we are starting to add in some 6-9 month things. You are wearing size 2 diapers.

This past month you:

started crawling!! Yikes, our lives are definitely not the same! Gone are the days when I could lay you down on a blanket. But we are very proud of you, and you are really enjoying your independence and love being able to get around to what you want!
started pulling yourself to standing in your crib. It was such a cute moment the first time we saw it.
have really started to get into food. Peaches are your absolute new favorite!
met your Aunt Suzie! We have had such a blast these past few days visiting with her ... more on that another time.

Peach Love

Today was Peach Peeling Day at my parents. Every summer, mom goes to Porter and buys a couple of bushels of peaches. Some we save to eat, some we bake into a pie, and the rest get peeled and frozen for later use (peach pie in the middle of winter!). Edith was very interested in the peaches, so we peeled one and let her have it. Oh boy, was she in heaven!! She has decided there is nothing better than a fresh Porter peach, and I agree!

One Year Anniversary

Yesterday was Brian and I's 1 year wedding anniversary! It's so hard to believe it has already been one year. So much has changed and happened this past year, it has just absolutely flown by. We are beyond blessed with each other, our sweet daughter, and our wonderful families.

Food Adventures

We have had so much fun this past month introducing Edith to solid foods!

So far she has tried:

pears and she hated them
sweet potatoes, her absolute favorite
avocado, her second favorite
a bite of banana which she hated
pureed peaches which she didn't like because they were too sour
a bite of cantaloupe which she didn't like
a few bites of watermelon which she enjoyed
carrots, which didn't really get a reaction either way
green beans, her absolute least favorite
acorn squash, another favorite

I guess it's true what they say ... time sure does fly when you're having fun! Edith you are now 7 months old!

I don't have exact measurements for you, because we don't have another check up until you are 9 months! I think you weigh somewhere around 16 lbs and are about 27 inches tall. You are just a growing machine!

Your current habits are:

You are still a fabulous sleeper, most of the time. It's been a little rough this past month because you have been working on cutting 2 teeth. You go to bed around 9:30 and wake up anywhere between 8 and 8:30. Most days you wake up before me and just hang out in your crib until I come in to feed you! We have totally dropped your evening nap, replacing it with an evening walk. You have 3 naps per day, and they generally add up to around 4 hours.

You are still breastfed, but we have now added in 1 solid meal at dinner time. You nurse 5 times per day and generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. We have had a ton of food adventures this past month, with your current favorite foods being sweet potatoes and avocado! I will have a more food detailed post later :)

You are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes, and still some 0-3 month pants. You are wearing size 2 diapers.

This past month you:

started pushing yourself from tummy to sitting!
got 2 teeth!! It was a little rough for a week or so, but now you have such a cute little smile with your 2 bottom teeth :)
are getting so much better at sitting on your own. You have such amazing balance.
still absolutely love bathtime! It's your special time with Daddy in the evening.
are starting to really get tired of your stationary toys. You would rather be playing with your toys on the floor.

4th of July

Father's Day

Father's Day this year also fell on Teri's birthday, so we had a combined celebration. We went out to Macaroni Grill for lunch and then back to Al and Teri's house to hang out and open presents. It was a wonderful day spent with family!

First Solid Food - Pears

We fed Edith her first solid food last night - pears. She hated them. She kept looking at us like "What the heck is this stuff??" We will continue trying this week, and move on to something she hopefully likes better next week!

Well, Edith Renee, you are now half a year old! I am still trying to figure out how this happened.

Today you had your six month check up!

You weigh 15.2 lbs - 34th percentile
You are 26 in - 58th percentile
Your head measures 16.7 in - 47th percentile

Your check up went really well. The doctor says you are developing wonderfully and doing all the things you should! The nurse had a heck of a time trying to get you to swallow the oral vaccine, and your shots were horrible. But the rest of the day went great and your shots didn't seem to bother you at all. I am so thankful for this, and I am hoping this continues on for the rest of your checkups.

Your current habits are:

You are a fabulous sleeper! You go to bed generally around 9:30 and wake up anywhere between 8 and 8:30. Most days you wake up before me and just hang out in your crib until I come in to feed you! We started dropping your evening nap this month, so you only get 3 naps per day, and they generally add up to 4 hours. You love sleeping on your back at night swaddled in your SleepSack. You still will only nap on your tummy during the day. You still nurse yourself to sleep at night, and for now I'm okay with it. You also love your Sleep Sheep set on the ocean waves sound to fall asleep to.

You are exclusively breastfed and we are still on our awesome schedule! You are eating 5 times per day and you generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. We had to stop feeding you oatmeal because it was messing with your tummy. We are super excited to start feeding you solid foods this month!!

You are wearing 3-6 month clothes, and 0-3 month pants, with a few 0-3 month onesies thrown in. We switched you to size 2 diapers this month.

This past month you:

started rolling both ways!! You now must be supervised at all times.
started laughing! Hilarious.
are sitting up on your own. You have such amazing balance.
absolutely love bathtime! You and daddy have a grand time playing and splashing. We even got you some new bath toys and you love them.
are still loving your jumperoo. You play in it at least once a day. Although you are starting to get tired of being stationary.
got your first tooth! I know there will be another one soon.
had your first evening without mommy! Daddy had to give you a bottle and put you in bed. He says you fought it at first, but calmed down and went right to sleep.

And now we start the downhill slide into your one year birthday! We love you and are so excited to see how much you learn and grow in the coming months!

First Tooth!!

It's official! Edith has her very first tooth!! I was so surprised to find it. She hasn't been exhibiting any of the real signs of teething besides the drool EVERYWHERE. She had just finished nursing and was talking when I noticed the white spot. Sure enough, it was a tooth!! I called Brian in and we were both so happy :) She's growing up so fast!

Tummy Time

Edith now loves tummy time because she has learned how to roll both ways!! I was quite surprised when I left her playing happily on the floor on her back and came back to her still talking and playing happily on her tummy!! She first rolled from back to front on June 6th, and is getting better everyday.

Family Visit

After all of our deliciousness and napping on Sunday, we headed over to my Aunt Carla and Uncle Junie's for some dinner and visiting with family. Grandma was back in town, as well as Aunt Martha and Aunt Donna. An added bonus - Jed, Megan, and their kids were there as well! It was a fabulous end to a fabulous day! Memorial Day (also my birthday!) is tomorrow, and we don't have much planned ... just going to the lake for breakfast and looking forward to having an extra day relaxing together :)

Birthdays

The end of May is a a very busy time for our family! Al's birthday is the 29th, my birthday is the 30th, and Memorial Day falls somewhere in there too.

Since Memorial Day fell on my actual birthday this year, we decided to celebrate Al and I's birthdays together on Sunday to allow for other activities on Memorial Day.

We all went out to PF Chang's for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. Edith was a little cranky (overstimulated) so she napped through most of it.

We came back to our house and had the usual cake and presents. My mom ordered me a delicious lemon cake from Merritt's Bakery and it was delicious!!

Everyone had a grand time, and it completely wore Miss Edith out :)

Oatmeal Face

We decided to try again with oatmeal. But this time, I made her real oatmeal instead of using the nasty powdered stuff in a box. And what do you know ... Success!! She loves it :)

Jumperoo!

Edith is in love with her jumperoo. I think it's the combination of her being able to feel like she is standing and jumping around, without someone holding her. Miss Independent??

And now she has decided to like her bumbo seat! Especially if Mr. Lion is involved.

Edith Renee, you are growing up way too fast! You are learning and doing something new every day it seems!

You currently weigh between 14 and 15 lbs, and that's about all I know! We will find out exact measurements at your check up next month.

Your current habits are:

You are a fabulous sleeper! You have started going to bed earlier, generally between 9 and 9:30 and wake up anywhere between 8:30 and 9. Most days you wake up before me and just hang out in your crib until I come in to feed you! You still generally nap four times per day, for about an hour. This changes from day to day, depending on what we are up to. You really don't mind skipping a nap if needed, and you just make up for it at your next nap. You love sleeping on your back at night swaddled in your SleepSack. You still will only nap on your tummy during the day. We had a few nap battles this past month, but we are over those now. It's getting interesting because you have really figured out how to roll yourself over! If you don't want to nap, you just flip over to your back and get really mad. You still nurse yourself to sleep at night, and for now I'm okay with it. You also love your Sleep Sheep set on the ocean waves sound to fall asleep to.

You are exclusively breastfed and we are still on our awesome schedule! You are eating 5 times per day and you generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. We tried feeding you rice cereal and oatmeal powders, and you hated both of them!! Here in the next month, I will try making you some real oatmeal because personally, I think that powdered stuff is disgusting. We're still going to wait until 6 months to really start feeding you solids, as I think that is what is best. We are so anxious to see how you react!

You are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes, and 0-3 month pants, with a few 0-3 month favorites thrown in. It really depends on the brand and style of clothes. You are really filling out your 3-6 month sleepers! You are such a long, skinny baby. You are still wearing size 1 diapers, but they are starting to get a little snug. We will be in size 2 before long!

This past month you:

decided to start rolling from front to back. It is so cute.
tried cereals for the first time, and hated them!

are trying to sit on your own. You will sit by yourself as long as someone is around and you feel like they are supporting you. When you are by yourself, you try too hard and fall. I can sometimes get you to sit alone if I distract you with a toy.
have fallen in love with bathtime! You and daddy have a grand time playing and splashing and talking with Mr. Duck. You love it so much you have started getting really mad when it's time to get out, and you throw a fit until you find me to eat.
had a sleepover at Granny and Grampy's and did really well!
are still loving your jumperoo. You play in it at least once a day.
have finally decided to like your bumbo seat! You sit in it and help me get ready in the mornings.
have really started noticing things and people. Stranger anxiety is starting to form, and you are very particular about who you like and don't like.
still absolutely love your Sadie dog. You will watch her and never lose interest. You have started to want to pet her, so we are teaching you to be gentle, but you still sometimes pull her fur and ears.
have started to develop a cute little personality, temper included.
have just started teething. I can feel all the bumps in your gums, but I don't think we will see anything too soon. Teething rings are your new best friend.

Weekend with Granny and Grampy

We had to stay with my parents this weekend because we were bombing the house for bugs. Oh the joys of having a crawl space!!

Anyway, Edith did really well, and it gives me hope for any future road trips and overnight stays.

She was really tired on Sunday, and when we got home, you could just tell she was so happy to be home and in her own space!

I had planned on getting some family pictures (do you sense a recurring desire??) while we were there and it was nice, but Brian wasn't feeling well, and it didn't happen. Soon I promise!!

Mother's Day

I had a pretty enjoyable first Mother's Day! Brian woke up when I got up to feed Edith in the morning. He made me a delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs. He is the BEST bacon cooker! We just laid around most of the morning, and it was nice. We decided to go out in the afternoon, and pick up some landscaping stuff at Lowes. And then we went to JCPenny because I had a coupon that expired that day. Of course, Edith chose this day to be in a horrible mood. She's normally a great napper and I can run errands or shop while she naps in the stroller. This was NOT the case, and we had a mini meltdown at the store ... She's been that way most of the week. Anyway, overall it was a great day. I meant to take more pictures, but the day got away from me, so I just have the one after our long afternoon of meltdowns. I've been saying it for weeks, but I'm hoping to get some family pictures this weekend!

Talking ...

Edith LOVES to talk! She is getting much better at babbling, and loves to explore different sounds and pitches now. Of course, every time I try to get a video of it, she quits (camera shy??). But today, she was enjoying her afternoon floor playtime at Granny's house and was telling a marvelous story, and I got a video! YAY! Enjoy :)

She really hates hats, but I manage to get a few cute pictures out of her before the tears start!

Easter

Okay, so I'm playing catch up ...

Rather than have everyone over to our house for Easter (read: lazy), Brian's parents offered to have us all out to Meadowbrook Country Club for Easter Sunday lunch. It was delicious, and so nice to not have to cook :)

Edith met the Easter bunny and was not afraid (yet). She was much more interested in eating her dress ... Next year should be interesting.

Although the weather was horrible ... it rained literally all day, it was really nice to spend the holiday with the whole family.

I wish we had gotten more pictures with the family, but Edith decided to nap during lunch, and then was more than ready to go home and eat when we finished.

We got home, fed the baby, and then had a little mini photo shoot.

I'm hoping for a nice, sunny weekend soon so we can get some family photos taken!

Holy cow Edith, you are 4 months old!! Time sure seems to be slipping by ever so quickly ... it is hard to remember life before you sometimes!

Today you had your four month check up!

You weigh 13.5 lbs - 46th percentile
You are 24.5 in - 57th percentile
Your head measures 16.1 in - 51st percentile

Your check up went very well! Everything looks totally normal, and the doctor was very impressed with your muscle control. She says you are very strong! Your shots didn't go so well this time. The first one up was actually the oral vaccine, and last time you had no problems with it. This time, you spit most of it out, and the poor nurse had a hard time. You were very upset when she gave you your shots, and you actually had tears this time. It took you a few minutes to calm down once I picked you up, but when we started walking out, you were fine. I think part of the problem was that the last part of our appointment was during your usual nap time. You fell right to sleep as soon as we got in the car. You did not feel well all day, and we spent most of the day cuddled together. You spiked a really high fever later in the afternoon, peaking at 102 by evening, so we had to give you some baby Tylenol for the first time. You actually really enjoyed the cherry flavor. Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal because I really miss my happy, smiley, laid back baby!

Here is a bit about what you are doing these days:

You still sleep through the night. You go to bed around between 9:30 and 10 and wake up generally around 8:30. I'm not sure what time you actually wake up, as you really enjoy playing by yourself and babbling away for a while before I actually wake up and come get you. You nap four times per day, for about an hour. You sleep wonderfully on your back at night swaddled in your SleepSack, but will only nap on your tummy during the day. You get a little fussy right before you're ready to nap, and I can usually just lay you down awake, and you will put yourself to sleep. You nurse yourself to sleep at night. You also love your Sleep Sheep set on the ocean waves sound to fall asleep to.

You are still exclusively breastfed and we have an awesome schedule right now. You are eating 5 times per day and you generally eat around 4-6 ounces each time. The doctor says we can start feeding you rice cereal whenever we feel like, so we will probably try it out later this week just for fun. I don't think we'll really start feeding you much else until around 6 months, or whenever you seem ready!

You are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes, and 0-3 month pants, with a few 0-3 month favorites thrown in. It really depends on the brand and style of clothes. You can't wear your 0-3 month pjs anymore, as they are not long enough. We have a problem with pants because the 0-3 month pants fit you pretty well, but they are a little short, and the 3-6 month pants are too big in the waist, but are long enough! You are wearing size 1 diapers. I am not sure what size shoe you wear, because you haven't worn any yet!

You love to stand up! Your jumperoo is your favorite activity during the day. You HATE tummy time. You will only tolerate it for a few minutes before you get really mad. You still love our morning highchair playtime. We have lots of fun new toys for you to play with, and you definitely have your favorites. You have given up your paci!! You much prefer your fingers now. You love to talk and will babble away. You are learning that you can now make many different sounds with your voice and have different pitches too. You can always make me laugh! You found your feet!! You love to grab them and look at them, and you can almost put them in your mouth. It's really quite hilarious! You will now entertain yourself for quite a while on your back. You love to just lay on a blanket and talk to yourself and play with your feet! You have the absolute cutest smile. You only reserve it for you favorite people. I can always get a huge grin out of you, and so can your daddy. You also smile at Granny, Grampy, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Stine, and Aunt Koz. You only give your smile to certain strangers. You have also become quite attached to your mommy. We've had a few issues with "Mommyitis" so that is something we will have to work on. You're only comfortable with certain people, and will tolerate others for a short time before you want to find me. I hope that's everything ... you are growing and learning so fast, sometimes it's hard to remember it all!

You are seriously the best baby ever. We love you more than life itself!

Well ... it's official that I am horrible at updating this!! I will try to be better now that Edith is on a pretty good schedule :)

Here's a little bit that has been going on:

That's all I have for now :) We are currently working on rolling over (front to back) and sitting up! Although she'd much rather be standing or playing in her jumperoo. More updates to come with her 4 month post - less than a week away! YIKES!

Edith, you are 3 months old today!! I cannot believe how time is flying!

You currently weigh 11 lbs 8 oz, and are 24 inches long! You have grown so much this past month, I can't believe it! The doctor is going to be amazed when she sees you next month.

Your current habits:

Sleeping: You still sleep through the night! I love this sooo much! You go to bed sometime around 10 (I know it's late!) and wake up sometime between 7:30 and 8. You take a few naps during the day, but generally only for 30 minutes and rarely up to an hour. You are just so busy and want to see the world! You know sleeping is only for nighttime, and want to know what's going on during the day. You sleep on your back at night, and will only nap on your tummy during the day. You no longer need your paci to sleep at night, as you have discovered your fingers!

Eating: You eat 5 times per day. People think it's weird and not enough, but this is what works best for us, and I know you're getting between 4 and 6 ounces at each feeding. We are still breastfeeding, and have been dealing with thrush for several weeks now. We had an appointment with a lactation nurse, and now have some medicine to hopefully clear this up! You are a great nurser and I hope this continues!

You are wearing 0-3 month clothes. I know you are going to outgrow these very soon, as some of your pajamas seem a little short when you completely stretch out! We just put you in size 1 diapers this week, and they are a little big, but the newborns are too small! Sometimes I wish diapers came in half sizes.

You have excellent head control! You love to sit up and look around. You have sat unsupported a couple of times, but you didn't realize it. We are working on baby sit-ups, and sometimes you'll even pull yourself up when you grab onto my hands! This makes bath time really interesting because you try to sit yourself up and have almost gone face first into your bathtub! You hate to lay down when people hold you because you want to see what everyone else is doing. You also love to stand up! It's one of your new favorite things when someone is holding you. You've even pulled yourself up into a standing position a couple of times. You still love playing in your highchair! We have a few sets of rings, and you love to grab them and bang them on the tray or throw them on the floor for mommy to pick up. You absolutely love music and will sometimes sing along. We always listen to nursery rhymes in the car! You now refuse to roll yourself over from front to back. You know how, but you will roll yourself onto your side and decide you don't really want to go all the way over, so you'll let yourself roll back to your tummy. I'm sure there is so much more to say, but it escapes me!

We love you so much baby girl, you are the joy of our lives! You can always brighten a day with your beautiful smile, and we can't wait to see you learn and grow even more in the years to come!

Edith loves her daily playtime in her highchair. We've made it a regular thing now, usually when I'm on the computer trying to edit photos or post something here! We're still using the blankets for support, but she is getting so much better at sitting up, so we'll probably get rid of the side props soon, but she will need the ones she is sitting on for a while. She's getting really good at using her hands, and can usually pick something up after a few tries. She also loves music. She will "sing" along to the baby einstein toy, it's so cute!

Highchair Playtime

Today we decided to put Edith in her highchair to see how she would like it. She is always wanting to sit up and see the world, so we thought this would be good for her! Turns out, she might be a little small still :) We had to put 3 blankets under her so she was tall enough, and a couple stuffed in each side because she kept leaning over. BUT - she loved it!! She learned that she can grab things the other day, and her rings are her new favorite toys, along with Mr. Lion -but only if daddy makes him talk! She sat happily in her highchair for close to an hour, giving us some time to clean around the house. We also had a little mini photoshoot. Daddy had to get out Mr. Lion so we could get a smile - those are so elusive when the camera is out!

Today you had your two month check up!

You weigh 10.4 lbs - 29th percentile
You are 22.5 in length - 44th percentile (although I think you're actually 23 in, and the nurse didn't measure you very well!)
Your head measures 15.3 in - 45th percentile

Your check up went very well! The doctor is really impressed by how strong you are, and you hold your head up so well! When she put you on your tummy, you just pushed up on your arms like a big girl! You were even going to roll over for her, but we stopped you so you wouldn't fall off the table :) Your shots went so well, you're such a champ. You screamed only when the nurse stuck you the second and third time, and as soon as she was done, you looked around like nothing was wrong. I picked you up, and all was right with the world again! We went to visit Granny afterward, and you slept most of the day. We could tell you weren't feeling like yourself, so the day included lots of cuddles! Hopefully we'll get back to normal tomorrow.

Here is a bit about what you are doing these days:

Sleeping: You sleep through the night!! I am so happy about this, and I know that I am very lucky! You go to bed around 10:30 or 11 and wake up at 7. Your naps are still a little unpredictable during the day, sometimes you sleep a lot, and sometimes you only sleep for 30-45 minutes. I know you'll get better as you get older! You still hate sleeping on your back, but we bought you a sleepsack swaddle the other day and you seem to be okay sleeping on your back as long as you are all wrapped up.

Eating: You eat every 3 hours during the day. And I mean 3 hours on the dot! If I'm late, you let me know! We are still exclusively breastfeeding, and I plan to keep it this way. You will take a bottle, but you know it's not the same and can be a little grumpy afterward.

You are wearing a mix of newborn and 0-3 month clothes. I can tell you will outgrow the newborn clothes very soon! You are still wearing newborn diapers, and probably will for a while. You are a skinny baby with no butt :)

You have started to smile, but it is still pretty random and extremely hard to get a picture of. You really like mommy best, but we are working on that! You have rolled over from front to back twice now, both times while you were supposed to be sleeping, so we haven't gotten to see it yet! You absolutely hate tummy time, but we will work on that!

We love you so much baby girl, and can't imagine our lives without you now!

... before my brain figures out what i'm doing.

so, bdub and i finally decided to join the local ymca. i'm not going to lie ... i HATE exercise. anything that has to do with me not being able to eat delicious food and sit on the couch for hours at a time is not my thing - just kidding ... sorta.

let me tell you how this week has been going:

monday 6:45 AM - bdub woke me up because i was too busy enjoying our nice, warm, comfy bed. (please let me sleep some more) we got in a good 20 minutes that morning. (exhaustion)

tuesday 6:45 AM - i got to wake bdub up! for some reason i was ready to go (it had nothing to do with the fact that i was in bed at 9:45 PM, promise) we got in an awesome 30 minutes! (feeling tired, but accomplished)

wednesday 6:45 AM - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. turn off that alarm!!!
wednesday 7:30 AM - i guess i'll drag myself out of bed and get ready for work ... bdub is STILL sleeping ...

thursday 6:45 AM - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. alarm? what alarm?
thursday 7:45 AM - OMG! i'm running so behind! ....... bdub is snoring peacefully .......

needless to say, our first week has been going fantastic!

... i don't have to try to be happy. when i'm with you, it just happens.

it is quite hard to believe it is already january 2010. where has the time gone?

we had a wonderful christmas, even if it was a day late because of the snow. we are so blessed to have both of our families close by so that we can all gather and enjoy the holidays together. there was much laughter and joy, and i couldn't have asked for a more perfect christmas. we celebrated bdub's birthday by going out with our families to one of our favorite restaurants, oliveto. the food was delicious as usual! bdub's mom made a delicious red velvet cake and we enjoyed watching him open all his presents :D

bdub and i have been discussing gyms for quite some time now, and since most places take advantage of the majority's "healthy resolutions" and offer wonderful discounts, we have decided now is the perfect time to find one! the top choice right now is the ymca, simply for the low cost and multiple locations. i will keep you all updated and hope this will help hold us more accountable!

the beginning ...

... is the most important part of the work.

well, here we are. i've given in and started a blog for us. i know the title is a bit misleading since we’re not married yet, but please forgive me, it was the only thing i could think of ... how unoriginal of me.

a bit of history is in order, i suppose. bdub and i have been dating for almost 2 years, crazy to think it’s been that long, but it feels like forever sometimes. we DO plan on getting married, we just have to get our finances in order first, so it will hopefully be this fall (or at least that's my plan :D). we just recently bought our first house in tulsa. we absolutely love having a place to call our own, even though bdub claims i'm trying to kill him with the work sometimes. i work for the national association of legal assistants in downtown tulsa. it's great and i work with a close-knit group of amazing women. bdub just started a new job at dish network as a technical service representative. he's been there for a few months, and is enjoying it, i think. he has decided to go back to school to pursue his degree in mechanical engineering. he is currently attending tcc to get his general credits out of the way, and then he will be transferring to osu-tulsa. we have 3 cats ... jasmine, socrates, and ajax, as well as a foster cat athena. they are quite energetic and provide us with a great deal of entertainment. we also just adopted a papillon puppy named sadie. she is 3 months old this month and is quite a handful and provides us with lots of laughs.

for now, we are just loving life and enjoy each day and the things it brings.
